Meet the Authors

Paul Gunashekar

Series Editor, Paul Gunashekar, ELT faculty, Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages, Hyderabad.


Prof. Paul Gunashekar has been teaching English, training teachers of English and developing instructional materials for English Language Teaching for about thirty years. Educated in Bangalore and London, he is a Professor in the Centre for Materials Development at the Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages, Hyderabad. Till recently he was Administrative Coordinator of CIEFL's National English Language Testing Service.

He has authored, co-authored and edited about one hundred and fifty English teaching books - including coursebooks, workbooks, supplementary and literature readers, teacher's books and reading cards - for national agencies like NCERT, CBSE, NIOS and IGNOU, and state agencies like the Government of Andhra Pradesh and the AP Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society.

Co-author of OUP's Communicate in English, Learning to Communicate for the Middle School, Provocations: a Reading Course for Colleges and Writing for Life, he is the General Editor of New Wave English Readers and the Series Editor of Broadway: A Multi-skill Course in English, also published by Oxford University Press India. In addition, he has developed audio materials for schools and video programmes for colleges.

Professor Gunashekar has conducted over a thousand teacher training workshops in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, UAE, Kuwait, Oman and Saudi Arabia. He has also conducted courses in business communication, communication skills, report writing, public speaking and presentation skills for corporate houses.

Awarded the Commonwealth Scholarship for ELT research in the UK, Professor Gunashekar specializes in course design, teacher development and English for Specific Purposes. He is an ELT consultant to Oxford University Press India, and India consultant to the Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary.


Shefali Ray

Shefali Ray, Course Director of English Programmes at the State Council for Educational Research and Training (SCERT), New Delhi. She has developed and produced ELT materials at the school level and is the author of the Listening and Speaking Course published by Oxford India.


Shyamala Kumaradas

Shyamala Kumaradas is an experienced materials producer and specializes in ELT course design and teacher development. She was on the faculty of the Centre for Materials Development, Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages, Hyderabad.


Meera Srinivas

Meera Srinivas is a member of the faculty of the Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages (CIEFL), Hyderabad. She teaches in the Centre of Materials Development, CIEFL, Hyderabad, and specializes in the ELT course design and teacher education.


Geeta Shyamsundar

Geeta Shyamsundar is a senior teacher of English. She is Vice -Principal (Academic) and Head, Department of English, Hyderabad Public School, Hyderabad. Her special interests include dramatics and creative writing.


Sheila Subramanian

Sheila Subramanian has more than 30 years of experience as an English teacher, teacher trainer, administrator and materials producer. She was associated with two national level organizations: NCERT and CBS. She has written and edited several textbooks for schools.


Geetha Kumar

Geetha Kumar is a senior teacher of English at The Mother's International School, Hauz Khas, New Delhi. She is keenly interested in developing innovative teaching materials for the middle and secondary school.


Neena Kaul

Neena Kaul is the Head of the Department of English at St. Mary's School, Safdarjung Enclave, New Delhi. She is actively involved in developing teaching materials for the middle, secondary and senior secondary levels.


Sachi Madhavan

Sachi Madhavan is a senior member of the faculty of the Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages, Hyderabad. She teaches in the Centre for Materials Development and specializes in ELT course design and teacher development.


K. Rajeevan

K. Rajeevan was a senior teacher in the Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages, Hyderabad.


Sheba Victor

Sheba Victor is an experienced teacher of English and an ELT researcher at the Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages, Hyderabad. Her special interests include materials development and teacher education.


Ashima Bath

Ashima Bath is the Head of faculty, English and Cultural Department, The Lawrence School, Sanawar. She is a Resource Person with Oxford University Press India and regularly conducts ELT training workshops.
